Hepatitis is inflammation of liver tissue that commonly cause by viruses. There are five major types of viral hepatitis: A, B, C, D and E. Hepatitis A and E are usually spread by food contamination, while hepatitis B and C are commonly spread through blood contamination during needle sharing or blood transfusion. Hepatitis D can only infect people already infected with hepatitis B.

Chronic viral Hepatitis C is major causes of  liver cirrhosis and hepatocellular carcinoma. It is estimated that around 130-180 million people worldwide are affected, representing more than 3% of the world population. The prevalence of Hepatitis E is high in resource-poor areas with frequent water contamination in China, attributing 15-20% of non per cutaneous transmitted hepatitis. Prevention is the most effective approach against the diseases. Gproan has successfully cloned multiple antigen genes of Hepatitis C and E viruses into the baculovirus expression vector and established stable insect cell expression cell lines to produce combinaned recombinant VLP vaccine against Hepatitis C and E.
